The Fire at the End of the World

It starts out in the morning / Before the break of day / I wrap my legs around my neck /'Cause that's how yogis pray / I've never had the pleasure / But somewhere I've been told / You look long and deep and hard enough
You see the Fire / At the End Of the World
You hit the ground a-running / Breathe 'til you explode / Dance until you almost drop / You're so attached to letting go / You take your sacred medicine / And while your dreams unfurl / You crane your neck and break your back / To see the Fire / At the End Of the World
The End of the World / Is not too far / We can go there tonight / We can take my car / The End of the World / In ashes now / Au Bout du Monde / Is burning down / Burning down . . .
I hit the brake / and start to shake / And fly into a spin / But all my good intentions / Would not let me in / I feel an elbow in my ribs / Hear a voice all gruff and cold / "Keep your eyes LOOKIN'! / Keep your eyes CHECKIN'! / For the Fire / At the End Of the World"
At the End of the World / You'll start KICKIN' again / At the End of the World / Your HEART STARTS TICKIN' again / At the End of the World / You start THINKIN' again / The End of the World / It isn't the end
The End of the World / We'll GET THE DISHES DONE / We'll stay up late / For the ESCHATON / The End of the World / We'll SEE OUR FRIENDS again / The End of the World / Isn't the end
The End of the World / Isn't the end / The End of the world / Isn't the end / The End of the World
Isn't the end / The End of the World / It isn't the end.
The “Eschaton,” the End of the World, is a marvelously pliable idea. It’s even the name of a metaphysical bookstore in Amsterdam, Au Bout du Monde, which, by the way, did not burn down.
